Waiting list (updated 24 June 2010)

(see the bottom of the page to find out if your child is on our list for a trial)

Please note that any applications sent to our old email address since about March 2010 may not be shown on this page - this is because the club changed email addresses and any emails around that time are no longer accessible.  Please let us know if this affects you.

We've thought long and hard about how to keep you in touch with where your child is on our waiting list, without giving any personal information away.  Hopefully, this will work!

Here are some hints and tips on how to decipher this list:

  • We teach from Stage 1 to Stage 7 and then continue with multi-discipline teaching for swimming, water polo, personal survival, diving and the odd bit of synchro!
  • Remember that some Stages may not have anyone on the list waiting to join, and that we move children that are in the Club first, then fill any other vacancies from the list
  • We cap our membership number at around 120, as we are restricted to some extent by the amount of water space available
  • Children's names are put onto the list in the order in which their membership application was received, with the oldest applications towards the top of the category for that Level.  The date of the tryout does not count, so if you miss it due to illness, holiday etc don't worry, you will not slip down the list!
  • However, when a place comes up, which cannot be filled by an existing member, a trialled swimmer will be offered the place, rather than a swimmer who has not been trialled and is therefore of unknown ability.
  • Remember that children under 4 will not appear on this list.  We start their 'clock' once they are 4.
  • Older non-swimmers may sometimes be given priority places over younger ones in the Small Pool.  This is because older non-swimmers often develop water confidence and skills at a faster pace than young non-swimmers, and can come and go through the lower Stages quite quickly.
  • This means that the Small Pool list below may move in a non-consecutive way
  • We actively promote the children or grandchildren of regular volunteers to the top of the waiting list, and give members' siblings a higher priority, too
  • Priority 1 is for children or grandchildren of regular volunteers, 2 is for siblings of children who are already members and whose subs are consistently up to date, 3 is for everyone else
  • If there are two or more siblings on the list, all at priority 3, once one of them takes up a place, and their subscriptions are consistently up to date, the others will automatically go to priority 2
  • On the list below, the first number is the priority code
  • The second column is the swimmer's postcode
  • If you do not attend for 2 trials without contacting us, we will remove your child's name from the list and dispose of your application securely - so please acknowledge an invitiation for trial, and let us know if your child is ill, on holiday, etc or if you no longer require a try-out.
  • New guideline January 2009 - We will contact you every few months to check whether you are still interested in a tryout - please also acknowledge these emails - if we have sent you 2 emails or letters and have had no response, we will dispose of your application securely - so please remember to let us have any new email addresses if you change it!
This page will be updated as and when there is movement on the list, so if it has not been updated, the list has not changed!  If a change occurs that affects your child, we will contact you.  We ask that if anything changes for you, ie if you no longer require the place, if your child has significantly improved their swimming, if they have moved through another Stage with another provider, then please let us know (you may need to cut and paste this into your email address bar).  It may mean that we can adjust your childs place on the list.
