Who's Who?

The Club is run entirely by unpaid volunteers, who give their precious free time to teach, carry out administrative work (like the registers, waiting list, attending meetings), planning, training, learning, and much more!

The Committee is drawn from volunteers, for example parents or teachers.  The Committee are nominated by the membership in the run-up to the Annual General Meeting every year.  The only post that is not annually renewed is the role of President.  The President is chosen by the Committee and is recommended for office to the membership at the AGM.

If you would like to play a more active role in the running of the club, or have a skill that you might be able to offer for a particular activity (for example, fund raising) please talk to the Chris, our Volunteer Coordinator.

Here is a quick run down of who is who:

most of these people serve on your committee and attend meetings about every 6 weeks.

They are about on a Thursday evening so feel free to approach them with any queries you may have.

Secretary: Alan Tilbury

I'm the chap behind the desk most weeks. I attend to the club correspondence, purchase all the different Certificates and Badges.I edit the Website, usually on a daily basis. I maintain the waiting list and keep in regular contact with the applicants. I e-mail club members most weeks with the latest information, organise committee meetings and keep the members informed of day to day developments.
I have a grandson and a granddaughter swimming with the club.

Contact me on the club email: broadstairsswim@sky.com

You can contact the club either by e-mail or use the on line form here

Chair: Tony Taylor

Tony came to the Club as a parent in the distant past - his offspring are now adults and Tony is still here!  TT is also a Level 2 Teacher and a great motivator.  The role of Chair is to keep an overall eye on the running of the Club, facilitate meetings, and has the casting vote if needed at the AGM.

Head Teacher: Sue Smith

Many of you will remember Sue Smith if you swum with us over the last twenty something years.  As Head Teacher, Sue is in overall charge of the Teachers, also the waiting list with Carol Cook & the secretary.   Sue has 2 grandchildren swimming with the club.

Assistant Secretary: Darren Sayer

Darren deals with membership forms, ASA registrations and keeps the Emergency Contact list up todate. He also deals with the sale of 'in stock' swimming equipment.  He has two children as members in the club.

Vice Chair: Sue White

Sue has been with the Club for about 10 years, and is a Level 2 Teacher.

Sue is standing down as 'Vice Chair' and 'committee member' at the AGM but hopefully will continue to teach on occasions that fit in with her shift work

Treasurer  is Tracey Gullick

And now over to the wet side - the people make the lessons happen!

Teachers, Poolside Helpers and other volunteers

In addition to Tony Taylor & Sue Smith the following teachers & helpers are also with us:

Rachel Clifton is a Level 2 Teacher and works with Sue Smith with our young non-swimmers and beginners in the Teaching Pool.  She is qualified in Paediatric First Aid.

Rachel

Carol Cook is a level 2 teacher taking the first two sessions.

Carol has 3 children swimming with the club

Carol

Our  5  level 1 teachers, Grace, Jo White,  Emma, Jo Barker & Fiona

Grace & Fiona are going on a 'Level 2' teachers course this year

Other Poolside Helpers are Chris Humphreys & Kelly Jones

Chris & Kelly

Jo Barker has 3 children, Emma has 3 children, Fiona has 2 children, Jo White has 2 children swimming with the club, Grace is still a member of the club so swims and teaches.

Chris is Jo Barker's mum so has 3 grand children in the club & Kelly has a daughter swimming with club.

To all of them we extend our appreciation as without their assistance we would not be able to manage.

All who help on a regular basis will be subject to a CRB check.

We also thank the team of swimmers that come in early every week to help poolside before their own sessions begin, their contributions are of great value to the teachers.

Bronwyn is one of our senior swimmers and she is going on a Level1 Teachers Training Course on 1st April 2012

Malcolm Cook has taken over the Poolside Register

Cathy Tuddenham is our Honorary President.  Cathy joined the club as a poolside helper in about 1973/74, when part of her voluntary role was counting heads and cleaning the changing rooms!  We're happy to say that she graduated to taking her teaching qualifications and spent around 30 years on poolside, being a great role model and excellent teacher.
