New 6 December
See the Newsletters & Posters page for who passed their NPTS Levels in the Main Pool this evening.
If you're quick, you'll see our Masters section report in the Sports Section of the Thanet Extra and other local papers - fame at last!
The kitbags are here! We'll be selling them this evening and next week (remember it is splash night next week, then we break for Christmas for 3 weeks). The bags are 12 each (payment by cheque preferred) and include a pair of hand paddles (small, medium or large) and a blue/white kickboard. Remember that we are including the kickboards to help solve our storage problems so some may not be in absolutely perfect condition but will still do the job!

Massive thanks go to Lawrence Arnold, who was the Coach for the Hythe Aqua Junior Water Polo team for 4 years, and is a very competant player himself. Swimmers, teachers and helpers all had a great time taking part and watching, and we all learnt a lot from Lawrence. We're delighted to say he will be coming along again to teach and ref our next tournament, probably in March 2008.
(PS does anyone have a load of our yellow competition water polo balls? We may have given these to a parent for safe keeping but we can't remember who!)
Jane Pond, Louise English and Debbie Barnett are your Parent Liaison people. If you have any questions or concerns, please approach them in the first instance and they will be happy to help. If they don't know the answer, they will find someone who does.
Please talk to them instead of coming out on poolside to talk to the poolside staff. The teachers are there to teach and ensure that everyone's children are safe and happy. If your question can only be answered by a teacher, the Parent Liaison people will find out the answer and pass it on to you, or arrange a time outside of lesson time for the query to be answered.
Remember that we are finishing off our NPTS assessments next week in the Main Pool, so please make every effort for your child to come along. We can then figure out where everyone needs to be and let you know who has passed their Level and who needs to move groups! Thanks.
Lastly for today - Splash night 13 December - child members are free and come along for their normal session time. Parents/carers can join in for 2, siblings just 1. No cousins, friends, etc please for safety reasons. Swimmers must be able to do 50m in the main pool if they wish to go on the big island. Remember that children are the responsibility of their grown-up in this session - please keep an eye on your younger children, and don't send them in on their own.

New 25 November
We had some Teaching Pool trials last week, we should have the updated waiting list available later this week, so keep checking if that affects you!
Thanks to all those swimmers and parents who took the time to do the Gala Survey. In general, the responses told us that:
all the respondants enjoyed the evening
their favourite events were either the lifesaving relay or the bay relay
we need to change the location of the PA system!
the Bay relay was a great start to the evening
they felt it was well organised
it was good to have the results on the website quite soon after the gala (scroll down to 22 November for the link)
one said it was the best gala ever!
We're so pleased that everyone enjoyed themselves, from the swimmers to the audience, and from the parents to poolside officials and helpers.
There were a couple of responses about the organisation of the Bay relay. We will work with the Bay Captains to improve next time around but remember that we also rely on swimmers' to turn up, or if they can't come, to let us know as far in advance as possible.
Next formal gala will be April 2009, but we hope to put together some kind of event in summer 2008 to bridge the gap.
New 23 November
Who passed their Diving awards in the Main Pool last night?
Remember the water polo tournament 29 November - this has a particular impact on 8.15 and 9.00 groups who should all come in at 8.15 and stay till 9.30ish. See the Water Polo pages for more details.

New 18 November
We're delighted to say the Club gala went off really well last night! There were the usual couple of teething problems at the beginning (well, we do only do this once a year!) but after that the whole evening kept it's momentum and excitement. We're interested in constructive feedback - use the Gala 2007 Survey form to tell us about it. (If there is something that you would like us to respond to, you must put your email address in the last box otherwise we will not know who it is from)
The swimmers did fantastically well, showing that their hard work has been paying off all this time. Well done to all the swimmers who took part and we hope you and your family enjoyed yourselves. Remember that Presentation Evening is 25 January 2008 at the Pavillion in Broadstairs. Tickets will be on sale after Christmas.
As always, these events are run entirely by unpaid volunteers for YOUR children so a massive vote of thanks goes to (in no particular order):
Sue White - organiser
Ian White - Chief Timekeeper
Sue Smith - Referee
Tony Taylor - Starter and in charge of finding sponsors from local businesses
Sheila Watson, Louise English, Emma Warren (poolside helper and Masters swimmer) - entry, programmes and raffle
Trev Bond - announcer
Justin Tilley - IT wizard, sorting out entries and results
Carolyn Bond and Lisa Andrews - Finish judges - very difficult job, especially with some of those close finishes!
Paul Tuddenham and Claire Hunter (Masters swimmer) - stroke and turn judges, making sure everyone stays within the rules
Emma Kemp, Jo Webster, Meryl Smallbone, Gary Smallbone, Rose Atkins, Cathy Tuddenham, Amanda Drake, Tony New - timekeepers - fastest fingers first!
Molly White - runner, taking those all important sheets along to the Recorder
Eric Woodin, Val Woodin and Jane Pond - Stewards, collecting the swimmers and taking them down ready for their races
Bay Captains and Vice Captains - Sophie White, Jon Drake, Danielle Aspital, Ant Tuddenham, Jack Basson, James Preston - well done for sorting out your teams on the night
Sophie Woodin - for rescuing the programme and putting it all together!
Liam Fricker - much gratitude for supplying a PA system that worked!
We are going to hold the next gala in April 2009, hopefully a better time of year to avoid colds and ear infections!
New - 15 November
The new kitbags on order. They should be with us on or around 10 December. The cost to anyone buying one will include a set of new hand paddles and one of our blue and white kickboards. Cost is possibly around 15, but watch this space for confirmation of that. We were going to start with getting the 9.00 group kitted out, but this offer is now open to anyone who wants to buy a bag.
